FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT REBOUND EXERCISE
WHAT IS REBOUNDING, OR REBOUND EXERCISE?
Rebound Aerobics is a low impact
fat burning exercise that improves balance and coordination and it
is fun and energizing! Rebounding is an aerobics workout done on a
rebounder, sometimes referred to as a mini exercise trampoline.
The workout consists of low level ‘health bounces’,
alternating leg ‘aerobic
bounces', and some ‘strength
bounces’ where both legs leave the mat. There are also many great
rebounding
video workouts available that run the gamut from beginning to very

WHY REBOUND?
As a fitness
routine, nothing is easier or more tailor-made
for the entire family. You go at your own pace, you already own
the proper clothing, and it is fun! Rebounding on a regular basis
lowers your blood pressure, helps you to lose weight, and reduces
your risk of diabetes. It can also boost your mood and make your
problems seem much more manageable. A consistent rebounding
program can make enormous and lasting changes in your health and
in your life.

IS REBOUND EXERCISE SAFE?
Yes! Rebound exercise is very safe.
The large over-sized springs make rebounding very low impact. Because this exercise is very low impact, it is safe, fun, and easy for women who are pregnant, arthritis sufferers, toddlers and people who are infirm and / or elderly.
A
study was conducted at the University of Utah by A. W. Daniels,
Ph.D., Adjunct Professor, Material Science and Engineering and
Orthopedic Surgery of the University of Utah. His objective was to
compare the, "impact loads transmitted by rebounding and more
conventional exercise surfaces." In other words the impact of
jogging on a wooden floor was compared to jogging on a rebounder. Dr. Daniels found that, "the
maximum impact force on the rebounder would only be 1/6 that of
the wooden board track."

WILL I FALL OFF OF THE REBOUNDER?
No. Occasionally people
beginning a rebound routine will report a slight feeling of
instability which quickly disappears. This is normal as you are standing on an unstable
surface and it will take the body a little time to adjust. For people with health
or balance issues we

IS THERE ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR CLOTHING THAT I NEED FOR REBOUND EXERCISE?
Rebounding is so simple
and enjoyable that there is
little required to achieve an effective workout
If you are strength training on your rebounder and wish to define
your upper body and leg muscles it is recommended that you include
soft hand weights or ankle weights.
All that is required is
comfortable loose fitting clothing and a pair of athletic
shoes, unless you choose as many do, to rebound
in your bare feet. An athletic shoe provides support across the ankle
and it helps to provide traction on the mat of the rebounder. We
also recommend a good supportive sports bra for women. Be sure
to keep a bottle of water handy since hydration is critical while
you are exercising.

CAN YOU TARGET ABDOMINALS ON THE REBOUNDER?
Rebound aerobics also provides superior
toning exercises designed to isolate the abs on the rebounder.
When people train abs on a rebounder there are several benefits
over training on the floor. First the tail bone is cushioned
by the mat, so crunches won’t bruise the tail bone or strain lower
back on the rebounder. Second you have the ability to make your
abs work harder on a rebounder than when doing crunches on the
floor. The reason for this is because of the bounce. The
bouncing "V sit" generates increased G's across the trunk forcing the
abdominal muscles to contract harder in order to control the
movement of the chest and head and legs as
opposed to a crunch or sit-up
executed on the floor.
